Masdar City, at the forefront of green urban science and development

Masdar City unveiled a beautiful city plan with GE Ecomagination’s Centre located in Masdar City’s “Incubator Building”.

On January 15, 2014, a joint photo opportunity with the leaders of Masdar City, including Doctor Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Debora Frodl and Nabil Habayeb. Doctor Sultan Al Jaber is the CEO of Masdar City and Institute and United Arab Emirates Minister of State. Debora Frodl is General Electrics’s Global Executive Director of Ecomagination. Nabil Habayeb is GE’s, a Fortune 500 company, CEO and President of the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey.

GE is investing $10 million in a joint venture between Mabudala Develpoment Company and the Government of Abu Dhabi. This venture is the culmination of an eight year plan started in 2005.

As mentioned in the G20 News article on February 8th, “G77 and China outline their plans for 2014-Part 1” we analyzed the G77 and China statement findings that 70% of the population will be living in urban cities. Additionally, The Group of 77 and China estimates that by 2050, the population total size may be 9.5 billion. The focus of the project with Masdar City will be on water and energy sustainability and efficiency research.

The G20 News article also recommended to the G77 and China to pay close attention to the developments at Masdar City. The project is leagues ahead of any city in the world and should be used as a model for the future.
