Inflation Rising in the US

The second month in a row saw core inflation rising slightly, however, more than a percentage point on a year over year basis for each of the last two reported months.

The Personal Consumption Expenditures price index for April increased year over year by 1.6 percent. Core consumer spending data, excluding food and energy showed an increase of 0.2 percent in April, which represents a 1.4 percent rise from 2012-April.

Japan also showed an increase in inflation, as well as a decline in household spending.
